Cathedral Unfinished is the genesis of Framework as a limited collection. This piece ambitiously chases what is possible with a single color of LEGO® brick. The cathedral draws inspiration from many real-world cathedrals, namely Notre Dame de Paris and Cologne Cathedral. Jared draws on his love of unique part usage to create the details of the structure, creating a detailed front entrance from crossbow pieces, emulating grotesques with a specialized helmet, and using gears to emulate monochrome stained-glass windows.
The creature moves manically in this pieces, desperately trying to complete the ambulatory of the cathedral and the final spire before it can be seen.
Each entry in the Framework collection includes at least one specific LEGO® part with very limited availability. Cathedral Unfinished utilizes many rare parts, but this highlight goes to part 32577, used to create the skeletal taper of the front spires. The part in Tan was only produced in 2001, and could only be found in a limited run of McDonald’s exclusive Bionicle® sets, and a movie exclusive polybag.
