“You enter the final chamber. Everything is quiet, except for the bubbling of lava. Before you lays a massive horde of gold, jewels and countless items of extraordinary value. Before you can reach for it, the cavern shakes. Emerging from the lava comes the hulking form of an Ancient Red Dragon. The Dragon’s eyes lock on you and its mouth opens to what almost looks like a grin. Roll for initiative!”
“Into the Dragon’s Lair” was Jared Oswald’s entry into the LEGO® Ideas “50 Years of Dungeon and Dragons” challenge. The design was not chosen to advance to the review stage, but remains one of Jared’s most popular builds on social media and one of our favorites. The bust features an Ancient Red Dragon emerging from lava to guard its horde against a group of adventurers. This project was designed digitally, but never physically built due to the time constraint of the challenge. The minifigures for the model were designed using digital recolors of existing LEGO® parts.
